(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Leader of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC) discussed with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki Iraq’s political developments.
A statement issued on Thursday, Jan. 27, by the SIIC said, “Hakeem received Maliki on Thursday evening, discussing the country’s latest political developments and the importance to consolidate relations and alliances between Iraqi effective political slates.”
It added, “In a statement to the press after the meeting, Maliki asserted the necessity to keep in touch and continue such meetings that are base for the political process and the national partnership.”
Maliki pointed out, “We touched on bilateral relations as well as the relations between various political forces to consolidate the government that enable it provide citizens’ requirements.”
For his part, Hakeem said, “We will continue supporting the government’s trend and its policies. We have a long way to go and face big challenges, as well as good chance for Iraq to take off.”
